IU to star in Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines'
Jan. 30 (UPI) -- South Korean singer and actress IU will star in a new Netflix series.
The K-pop star will appear alongside actor Park Bo-gum in the upcoming K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines, Netflix announced in a press release Monday.
When Life Gives You Tangerines follows "the adventures of Ae-sun (IU), 'the remarkable rebel,' and Gwan-sik (Park), whose nickname means 'unyielding iron,' in Jeju Island, including Gwan-sik's long-standing crush on Ae-sun since they were young."
The show's title references the Jeju dialect, translating to "thank you for your hard work."
When Life Gives You Tangerines is written by Lim Sang-chun (Becky's Back) and produced by Kim Won-suk (Misaeng: Incomplete Life).
IU's Ae-sun is described as "a determined rebel who continuously defies her fate," while Park's Gwan-sik is "a steadfast man who shows sincere affection through his actions."
Moon So-ri and Park Hae-joon will play older versions of Ae-sun and Gwan-sik, respectively.
Netflix has yet to announce a premiere date.
