Yahoo News James Gunn addresses Guardians of the Galaxy 3's lengthy runtime
Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has addressed the film's runtime, following reports that the third instalment will be the longest in the series.
Responding to a fan question asking if Guardians 3 would be around two and a half hours long, Gunn replied: "It’s around that long, although that’s not yet exact."
"And, I promise, not a second is wasted," he added.
"There’s no fat. It was necessary to experience the full arc for every major Guardians character, not only for this film, but for the trilogy (or, I should say, trilogy plus)."

This isn't the first time Gunn has spoken about the film's length, teasing on Instagram that sequel will be longer than the first two Guardians films.
The film, which is set to land in UK cinemas this spring, will see Chris Pratt's Peter Quill/Star-Lord and the Guardians set out on one last mission to take on Chukwudi Iwuji's villain the High Evolutionary.
Vol 3 will also see a reunion between Star-Lord and the 'new' Gamora who, being from an alternate timeline, isn't particularly fond of Peter Quill.

Dave Bautista, who plays Drax the Destroyer in the films, recently gave his thoughts on saying goodbye to the character last month in an interview with Digital Spy.
"It hasn't really hit me yet," he said. "I've been talking about it, but the emotions haven't hit me. And I know they will when I see the film, and when I see everyone on the press tour, and we're saying goodbye.
"It's a very bittersweet thing. I feel very accomplished and proud of what we did, and what we left behind."
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 arrives in UK cinemas on May 3, and two days later in the US. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and Vol 2 and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special are streaming on Disney+.
