James Martin ‘Banned’ From Making Omelettes In Public

Last week James Martin shocked us all when he revealed that he was quitting ‘Saturday Kitchen’, and the TV chef has now opened up about his rather bizarre contract.

We mean, this is arguably one of the weirdest contract clauses that we have ever heard.

Y’see, James is actually banned from making omelettes in public due to the fact he oversees the popular Omelette Challenge part of the cooking show.

The star is never seen taking part in the challenge himself and bosses were apparently keen that he extends this behavior when he is out and about.

Speaking in a new interview, James explained: “I’m pretty sure there’s a clause in the contract somewhere that I’m not allowed to make an omelette in public.

“I’m not allowed to skydive, I’m not allowed to deep-sea dive, and then, ‘Not allowed to make an omelette in public.’”

He went on to add to Heat magazine: “People would do all these ridiculous things on social media now and put it out there, like, ‘Oh, he’s made an omelette.’ The whole point about it is that I’ve not made one. So, there you go. Legally, not allowed to make one.”

Yikes - does this mean that he could end up in a prison cell if he dared to break the clause?

After hosting Saturday Kitchen for ten years James claimed that he was leaving the show to reclaim his weekends, however, other sources have claimed that all is not what it seems.

An insider previously told The Mirror that he actually quit when BBC blocked an opportunity for him to front Top Gear, sharing “Although James played down joining the show there was no doubt he fancied it.

“But BBC executives blocked the move. They felt he was best suited to ‘Saturday Kitchen’. Also filming commitments for ‘Top Gear’ are often over weekends which would clash with the show. Their view was ‘if it isn’t broke, why fix it?’”

Or maybe the real reason is that he just really, really, really wanted a ruddy omelette…
