James McAvoy hints at a new X-Men film shooting soon
While it isn't blitzing us like Marvel Studios (which has three films coming in 2017), 20th Century Fox always seems to have at least one X-Men movie in the works, and the next might be coming sooner than we thought.
James McAvoy has posted a picture of himself with series writer-producer Simon Kinberg, hinting that they will be reuniting in the summer.
Sir Patrick Stewart – who, along with McAvoy, plays Professor Charles Xavier – also features in the picture.
But which project could he be referring to? There have been rumours that X-Men spin-off New Mutants – in which McAvoy is expected to feature – will shoot in 2017.
McAvoy's X-Men: Apocalypse co-star Sophie Turner recently said that she would be shooting the next instalment in the main movie series... eventually.
That film is rumoured to be a new adaptation of the classic 'Dark Phoenix Saga' under the working title 'X-Men: Supernova'.
Josh Boone is attached to direct New Mutants, which will feature a new class of trainee X-Men from Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. No castings have been confirmed for that project, but it is expected to feature Split's Anya Taylor-Joy and Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams.
Stewart will soon be seen reprising his role as Professor X with Hugh Jackman in Logan, which will be released in the UK on March 1 and in the US on March 3.
