Jason Aldean's pregnant wife feared for unborn baby as she ran for cover in Las Vegas shooting

Jason Aldean’s pregnant wife, Brittany, has confessed that she feared she would never get to hold her unborn baby as she ran for cover during Sunday night’s tragic mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Gunman Stephen Paddock attacked Route 91 Harvest country music festival concertgoers from his room at the Mandalay Bay hotel during Aldean’s headline set on 1 October, killing 59 people and injuring 527 in a mass shooting.

Now Brittany has described the moment that Paddock opened fire on the crowd, revealing that she was in a nearby tent when the shooting began.

Writing on Instagram, the former American Idol contestant shared: “It’s been hard to process what happened the other night… Still feel like I’m in a daze.

“First and foremost THANK YOU to the first responders. It amazed me at the time and it still continues to – these people completely put everyone else’s lives before their and we are all forever grateful.

“When the gunfire started, I was not with Jason, but with some friends in a tent closer to Mandalay.

“As you can imagine, my first instinct was to run to him and his was the same. As we laid behind equipment onstage with some of our road family, bullets flying past… All I could think was ‘I never even got to hold my baby’.

“We all made sure the others knew we loved them and then ran for cover, where we stayed for the next couple hours. (Not knowing if there were multiple shooters, where the bullets were coming from… NOTHING.)

“We were the lucky ones. I can’t put into words the pain and heartache we feel for the ones who are no longer with us.

“May God be with their families and friends during this horrendous time. Each and every one of you are, and will forever be, in our prayers.”

Brittany captioned the poignant post with: “Took me a while to be able to write these words… thank you to everyone who has reached out to Jason and I… Means the world to us.”

Jason previously announced that he will be cancelling his remaining gigs for this week out of respect for the victims of the massacre.

He shared: “I feel like out of respect for the victims, their families and our fans, it is the right thing to do. It has been an emotional time for everyone involved this week, so we plan to take some time to mourn the ones we have lost and be close with our family and friends.

“Our plan is to resume the tour the following week in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our first time back onstage will be a very tough and emotional thing for us, but we will all get through it together and honor the people we lost by doing the only thing we know how to do — play our songs for them.

“I hope everyone understands why we can’t play this weekend and I’m sorry if anyone is disappointed.”

Jennifer Lopez, who has a residency at the Axis Theater inside the nearby Planet Hollywood in Vegas, also postponed three of her shows in tribute to those who lost their lives.
