An urgent warning has been issued by a former Scotland Yard and Met police officer regarding the Airbnb accommodation where Jay Slater stayed before he went missing. It comes as the search for the teenager continues into its third week.

Jay Slater's disappearance has sparked concern after he vanished near Masca in northwest Tenerife on June 17, following a rave he attended at Playa de las Americas. He had spent the night at an Airbnb with two men he met at the event.

The next morning, Jay faced the challenge of returning to Los Cristianos, where he was staying with his friend Lucy Law, but missed his bus. Unaware that it would take 11 hours on foot to reach his destination, Jay set out through the mountainous region and has not been seen since.

Today marks two weeks since Jay was last seen, and now Graham Wettone, a seasoned ex-police officer, is urging Spanish authorities to investigate the Airbnb property, suggesting it may hold clues to Jay's whereabouts.

Despite Spanish police having already interviewed the two men and dismissing them as "irrelevant" to their inquiries, Wettone believes there are unanswered questions that warrant further investigation, reports The Express.

Speaking to MailOnline, Wettone expressed his concerns: "I've been following this case closely and discussing it with colleagues and it's certainly a very bizarre one, lots of things just don't add up."

Wettone is confident that the Spanish police have retained the details of the individuals involved and could revisit them for further probing, potentially with assistance from British law enforcement.

"I know people are saying these two should have been kept but unless there is any real incriminating evidence it would be hard to keep them in Spain. That's why I would start again from the beginning and speak to all the witnesses again.

"I would hope that they have at least secured the Airbnb because if evidence is there then it will need to be gathered." The last person to hear from Jay was his mate Lucy after he rang her while making the trip from the Airbnb to Los Cristianos.

He told her he was in desperate need of water and his phone was on the verge of dying. The call then abruptly ended and no one has heard from him since, but search and rescue teams have been combing the area where his phone last "pinged".
