This Late ‘Jeopardy!’ Host Is Now the Subject of a Unique USPS Postage Stamp

Which TV game show host is now the subject of a unique Forever stamp announced by the United States Postal Service?

Alex Trebek, the late, longtime host of the syndicated quiz show Jeopardy!, received a unique posthumous honor when he became the subject — and question/answer — of his own U.S. postage stamp, the USPS announced on Friday.

On the stamp, which fans of the show and Trebek can order now,  is written the prompt, “THIS NATURALIZED U.S. CITIZEN HOSTED THE QUIZ SHOW ‘JEOPARDY!’ FOR 37 SEASONS” (in the same answer-and-question format featured on the show). Underneath this and written upside down is the correct response, “Who is Alex Trebek?” Sold in sets of 20 that mirror the iconic screens on the quiz show, the stamp pane will have relevant category headers appear at the top of each column. To the left is a photograph of Trebek with a portion of the Jeopardy! set behind him.

As the stamp indicates, Trebek hosted the long-running show for nearly four decades, until he died in 2020 from pancreatic cancer. Over the years, Trebek became, as the USPS puts it, “a respected and beloved presence in millions of homes.”

The stamp was announced by one of Trebek’s successors as host of Jeopardy!, Ken Jennings, at a taping of the show that aired June 21.

USPS art director Antonio Alcalá designed the stamps using photography provided by Sony Pictures Entertainment and hand lettering by Marti Davila. It was officially released on June 22.
