Jeremy Clarkson, 64, admits fears that girlfriend Lisa, 50, will put him in a nursing home

Jeremy Clarkson had confessed his fears that his girlfriend Lisa Hogan was going to put him into a care home for his 64th birthday.

The Top Gear star revealed that he had been "consumed with fear" after Lisa organised a trip to "somewhere nice" to celebrate his big day.

The presenter suspected there was an ulterior motive behind her surprise and was worried he may be sent into a home for the elderly.

Jeremy has been dating the former actress, 50, since 2017 with the Irish star recently expressing her hopes of getting engaged.

The couple have documented their relationship on his hit series Clarkson's Farm, which follows their life on Diddly Squat Farm, the Mirror reports.

To mark Jeremy's birthday this week, Lisa took him on a mystery drive.

He shared: "It all sounded lovely, but as we plunged further and further into the Cotswolds, and she still wouldn't tell me where we were going, I became consumed with a fear that she was taking me to a care home."

He added in his The Sun column: "She didn't. But the day is coming."

Lisa revealed she took their romance a step further this year and decided to take advantage of the leap year on February 29 which is when women typically propose.

However, she confessed that Jeremy was not aware she had proposed as he wasn't wearing his hearing aids.

She told The Times: “I just thought I might surprise him. Jeremy doesn’t think I proposed, but he wasn’t wearing his hearing aids, so no one will know."

In an episode of Clarkson's Farm, there was another hint of the couple tying the knot as Jeremy says: “I’ve got a big surprise for you,” as they walk through a field.

Lisa then excitedly asks: “Is it a proposal? with The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire pretending not to hear her.

The surprise turned out to be a fallen willow tree that had been brought back to life.

When pressed about the proposal, Jeremy says: “I’ll think about the proposal, OK? I’m not ready yet.”

The former Top Gear host has been married twice before to Alexandra James and then to Frances Caine, who he shares his children Emily, Finlo, and Katya with.

Jeremy and Lisa gave fans a glimpse into their romance on his Amazon series.

The 64-year-old recently told his girlfriend there was no way he was going wild swimming with her despite how much she wanted to in a recent episode.

Refusing to embrace the idea of a refreshing dip, he told Lisa to "get out" of the water and head to the pub.

While the former actress splashed about in a pond in a white swimming cap, Jeremy asked her: "What are you doing?” Lisa replied: "Just loitering in cold water."

The presenter demanded to know why they weren't at the pub before suggesting they could go home and enjoy a book together.

Lisa responded: "Apparently because this is the best high you could ever get."

Picking up on his reluctance, she told him to open his mind as she said he had never been in cold water before, to which he retorted in response: "I have been in cold water!

"I’ve done polar training - it was awful and trust me I’ve been drunk - and I’ve been in cold water - and being drunk is better.“
