Jeremy Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm Shop has had a far-reaching impact with queues of people often waiting outside the Chadlington site.

The Oxfordshire farm shop has enjoyed plenty of publicity through the Clarkson's Farm series on Amazon Prime with the trailer for the third season being released this week.

Diddly Squat Farm Shop sells Mr Clarkson's Hawkstone Lager, gin and other products such as honey and candles, in addition to merchandise such as T-shirts.

And now it seems as if the idea of a celebrity dipping their toe in the farm-shop industry is catching on.

Mr Clarkson previously came under fire for his comments on Meghan Markle in an article for The Sun in December 2022.

The Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso) concluded the column was sexist after it had received thousands of complaints from the public.

The column in The Sun was pulled from the internet within days as Mr Clarkson said the comments about the Duchess being publicly shamed were a reference to a scene in Game of Thrones that had been "misinterpreted".

But despite this controversy, it seems the Duchess is following on from the success of Diddly Squat Farm by making and selling her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard which includes homemade jam.

She created her American Riviera Orchard jam using fruit from her home garden in Montecito, according to reports.

It has led to commentators comparing the Duchess' business idea to Mr Clarkson's.

Writing for the i newspaper, Helen Kirwan-Taylor said: "The allure of the celebrity farm shop - whether it's from the Hamptons, Santa Monica or the Cotswolds, where I have a home - is that it conjures outdoor life without the dirtying of hands, or of kitchens for that matter.

"Just ask those willing to sit in Hamptons-level traffic to reach Diddly Squat Farm Shop (a big nothing if you ask me).

"Down the road is Daylesford - the ultimate destination farm shop, cafe and spa, curated by Carole Bamford."

The column also highlighted the Beckhams, who have a property in the Cotswolds, "defining farm-shop chic in the UK".

Ms Kirwan-Taylor adds: "We can expect more from Meghan's American Riviera Orchard: recipe books, tableware, textiles, marmalade and more jams.

"They will all presumably be marketed on social media in a way that indicates this all really isn't for you and me."

Diddly Squat Farm Shop reopened on March 1 following its annual winter closure.

The farm has typically had visitors flocking to the site, with motorists parking on grass verges near the shop, during the airing of Clarkson's Farm which returns to screens on Friday, May 3.
