It was already revealed that season two of Netflix's Jessica Jones would see her arch-nemesis Kilgrave (David Tennant) rising from the dead, despite having his neck snapped in the first season's finale.

Now some brand new pictures taken on set seem to confirm our theory that somehow Kilgrave's psychological hold over Krysten Ritter's boozy detective might never go away.

We have already seen evidence of Jessica Jones's character suffering PTSD from the trauma she experienced at the hands of Kilgrave in the first season.

Now these pictures show Tennant's creepy Purple Man whispering and shouting into the ears of those he previously tormented, including our hero and her neighbour Malcolm.

Firstly if he was genuinely there Jessica would be pummelling him to bits, especially as she developed an immunity to his powers last time around.

Also from the position he's stood in during the pictures, he's always slightly off-set or to one side, which is not how you'd stand during a normal conversation, suggesting he's not really there, a bit like a ghost, or The Joker in Arkham Knight.

While it's not 100% confirmed, it does seem rather likely – and can you blame Marvel for bringing back one of its greatest villains for another round?

Elsewhere Jessica Jones will team up with TV's Avengers in The Defenders, which launches on 18 August – head this way to read Digital Spy's review.

Daredevil, Iron First and her old flame Luke Cage will join Jessica in taking on Sigourney Weaver in the first full crossover for all our Netflix heroes.

Jessica Jones season 2 is scheduled for early 2018.
