Jimmy Kimmel was always going to continue his feud with Matt Damon at the Oscars – it was only a matter of how.

After taking a potshot at Matt during his opening monologue, Jimmy pulled out all the stops with a genius mocking of We Bought A Zoo, pretending to be a super serious evaluation of the film.

"He's able to hear words and repeat them back," joked Jimmy about Matt's performance. "The thing about Matt is you can see how hard he's working. It's so effort-full for him."

But that wasn't the only dig Jimmy was about to have at Matt.

As he came out to present Best Original Screenplay with Ben Affleck, Matt was announced as "and guest" instead of by his name and then every time he started to talk, the playing-off music kicked in.

"What is with the music? You can't play me off, I'm just presenting," he exclaimed, only leading the music to get louder and louder.

Oh, and who was the conductor for that segment? Why Jimmy of course.

Earlier in the show, Jimmy joked about Matt during his monologue over The Great Wall's financial woes: "He's a selfish person, but Matt did something very unselfish and I wanted to commend him for it," Jimmy started.

"He could have starred in Manchester By The Sea but he didn't: he gave that role to childhood friend Casey Affleck, and made a Chinese ponytail movie instead. That movie went on to lose $80 million. Smooth move, dumbass."

Your turn, Matt.
