Jodie Comer has admitted to watching old videos of Cheryl, as she gets to grips with the Geordie accent for new Danny Boyle film 28 Years Later.

Having received worldwide acclaim for stage and screen roles like her star turns in Killing Eve and Help, award winning actress Jodie is in the North East to shoot the movie, a sequel to 28 Days Later, which was a big hit when it was released in 2002. While not much is known about Jodie's character in the film, she has been seen in Newcastle on numerous occasions over the last month, along with Oscar winning director Danny and co-stars Ralph Fiennes and Aaron Taylor Johnson.

But, although she has played all manner of roles over the last decade, Jodie has never been required to master a Geordie accent, until now and is using Cheryl as her inspiration to get it right, more specifically, by watching the Girls Aloud star on old episodes of The X Factor. Talking about her role in 28 Years Later, which will be set in Newcastle and getting to work with Danny, to Elle magazine, Jodie commented: "Danny just seems like such a confident, intuitive and intelligent director. The original was so loved, so I’m trying not to think of that too hard. I’m not putting too much expectation on myself."

As she continues to film 28 Years Later, Jodie has been linked with a new drama said to be in the works about killer nurse Lucy Letby. It's been reported that Jed Mercurio, the man behind Bodyguard and Line of Duty, is working on a series about the ex neonatal nurse, who was put behind bars for a life sentence last year.

Both Jodie and Games of Throne star Sophie Turner have been linked with the drama, but insiders are now claiming they will not take part in it.
