She's well known to millions of viewers for the likes of Killing Eve and Help, but, as she's been seen in Newcastle this week for Danny Boyle's new film, Jodie Comer's past in Vera has come to light again.

BAFTA winner JoDIe is one of the biggest stars of British TV right now; having had a breakthrough role as Chloe in hit Channel 4 series My Mad Fat Diary in 2013, playing central character Rae's friend Chloe. But, many fans will have forgotten that, in the same year, Jodie also appeared in an episode of Vera.

Two years after a then unknown Sam Fender had the claim to fame of being the first ever murder victim in Vera, Jodie joined the likes of leading lady Brenda Blethyn in series 3 episode Young Gods, which saw DCI Stanhope and her Northumberland & City Police colleagues investigate the death of an extreme sports fanatic, who was seen by a group of campers jumping into the lake while on fire from head to toe.

Josie took on the part of the man's girlfriend, Izzy Rawlins, in a feature length murder mystery that also starred Vera's original sidekick David Leon, who has since returned to the show, as well as long serving cast members like Jon Morrison and Riley Jones.

After earning great acclaim for her roles in Thirteen, Killing Eve and Help, Jodie was seen in Newcastle earlier this week, along with Ralph Fiennes, as both stars were confirmed to have joined the cast for Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later sequel, 28 Years Later, which is due to shoot on Holy Island, in Rothbury and other areas across the North East this summer.
