Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor unites with her new companions in brand new Doctor Who teaser picture

The BBC has given fans a first look at The Thirteenth Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, surrounded by her new companions.

The brand new image, released on Tuesday, shows the brand new Doctor flanked by Graham (Bradley Walsh), Yaz (Mandip Gill) and Ryan (Tosin Cole) who appear to be watching her with curiosity.

It comes just a day after the BBC revealed Yaz and Ryan as new pals of Whittaker’s Doctor ahead of series 11 hitting screens later this year.

During the World Cup final on Sunday afternoon, the broadcaster revealed the first teaser trailer for the upcoming series, which will be the first to feature a female Doctor, backed by BBC pundits Rio Ferdinand and Alan Shearer.

The short clip showed Ryan watching something on his phone while eating and Yaz at home – both experiencing the table and room shaking around them.

Graham was also going about his daily life, reading a magazine but aware of a magical presence around him.

The final frame showed Whittaker at the window, smiling, with the screen soon reading: “The universe is calling”.

Earlier this month, the BBC confirmed they are taking legal action after footage allegedly from Whittaker’s first scenes was leaked online before being swiftly deleted.

In a statement, BBC Studios said that it “will strive to protect our programme-makers, audiences and licence fee payers from any breaches of security - ensuring Doctor Who fans enjoy the final and fully completed version of the episode when it premieres”.

The broadcaster also added that it takes "theft and illegal distribution of our content extremely seriously” and have filed an application with the California Federal Court.

The website, Tapetalk, is not accused of wrongdoing. The application seeks to find out the identity of the person(s) who uploaded the copyrighted content.

Doctor Who will return to BBC One this autumn.
