Pharrell Williams’s First Car Auction Is Filled With Vintage Classics, From De Tomaso to Lancia

Joopiter is ready to show that its expertise isn’t limited to the fashion and art worlds.

Pharrell Williams’s online auction house will launch its first auto sale, ”Joyride” , on Wednesday. And just like the Louis Vuitton Men’s creative director’s clothes and accessories, each of the 11 vehicles that will hit the block is guaranteed to stand out.

The auction is a collaboration between Joopiter and Morton Street Partners and really couldn’t be better named. As with past sales, Joyride will aim to show that automobiles, like streetwear, watches, and art, can be fun. What better way to illustrate this than with a selection of rare and custom vehicles from brands like Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, and Nissan that show off the creative potential of the automobile?

De Tomaso Guarà

It’s hard to pick a favorite from the Joyride group, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Scarr Pimentel’s 1990 Lancia Delta Integrale draws plenty of interest. The Manhattan pizzeria owner’s street-legal rally legend, which is a fixture on Orchard Street, is finished in battleship grey and comes with custom white wheels and a host of performance upgrades. It’s expected to fetch between $80,000 and $100,000.

There’s also a well-preserved example of De Tomaso’s final car, the Guarà. This example, which is one of only 18 built with a BMW V-8, should command between $175,000 and $200,000. We also have a feeling that NFL hall of famer Michael Strahan’s 1991 BMW 850i Dinan will appeal to more than just tri-state-area football fans. The auction house describes it as, “highly original,” including and twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V-12 that produces over 500 horses, and thinks it will sell for between $60,000 and $80,000.

Other cars from the auction include a Japanese-delivery 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello ($175,000 to $200,000), a rare Speed Yellow 1993 Porsche 968 Club Sport ($85,000 to $100,000), an off-road-engineered 1993 VW Golf Country ($35,000 to $45,000) and a slick 1999 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG ($30,000 to $40,000). A painted 2008 BMW 328i from Kenny Scharf’s renowned “Karbombz!” series ($250,00 to $300,000, Devon Turnbull’s 1993 Mercedes-Benz Ojas G-Wagon Overland Truck ($200,000 to $250,000), 2017 Mitsubishi Fuso Canter 4×4 Camper Teahouse Truck ($200,000 to $250,000) and a 1993 Nissan Skyline GT-R ($60,000 to $90,000) will also cross the block, though photos of them weren’t available as of press time.

Bidding for Joyride goes live on Wednesday, May 1, through the Joopiter website. The sale will run for one week, to Wednesday, May 8.
