Julianne Moore reveals she ‘loves’ watching Lorraine Kelly

Julianne Moore has revealed she ‘loves’ watching presenter Lorraine Kelly on TV and has been a fan since the Nineties.

The actress told host Kelly that she’s watched her ‘for years’ during Thursday’s episode of ITV chat show Lorraine.

Moore said Kelly’s Dundee accent helps her feel connected to the Scottish side of her family.

“I am half Scottish, my mother is from Greenock,” she said. “You know, I’ve watched you for years, when I was here, I think for the first time, doing [1999 film] The End of The Affair, and my son was just a baby.

“I would see you on the show all the time, and I loved listening to you because of your accent, because you reminded me of my mother, and my mother’s family.”

The Oscar winner was on the show to discuss her part in new film Kingsman: The Golden Circle which sees her play a villain called Poppy.

Moore had plenty of praise for the film’s director Matthew Vaughn, who she said had done an “extraordinary” job with the film.

She said: “Matthew has done something extraordinary with these films, he’s taken the spy genre and turned it on its head and it’s really funny and modern and entertaining.”

She also admitted that it was actor Colin Firth who got her involved: “Colin Firth is a friend of mine and he texted me out of the blue and said had I seen Kingsman and did I like it and I was like ‘oh yeah, yeah I loved it’. And he said: ‘Good because Matthew wants you to play the villain in Kingsman 2’”.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 8:30 am on ITV.
