And Just Like That fans beg Carrie not to break Aidan's heart as he makes comeback

Sex and the City spin-off And Just Like That staged another big character comeback on Thursday as Aidan Shaw arrived back in Carrie Bradshaw's life - but fans are already worried that she will break his heart again.

Aidan, played by John Corbett, featured in Sex and the City between 2000 and 2003 as one of Carrie's (Sarah Jessica Parker) most popular love interests.

The couple even got engaged, but Carrie famously broke his heart by cheating on him and leaving him for Mr Big (Chris Noth).

However, And Just Like That opened with Carrie being widowed by Big's unexpected death...leaving the way open for Aidan to step back into her life in the second series.

Aidan made his big return in Thursday's episode, melting viewers' hearts as the former couple reunited.

One fan tweeted: "Carrie is Aidan’s Big."

Someone else added: "This part sent me! Not going to lie, I got chills! Lmao I will always love Carrie and Aidan together."

Another fan welcomed him back, tweeting: "Team Aidan we persevered…and finally, WE WON!"

The episode made for emotional scenes, as one viewer wrote: "Something is seriously wrong with me. I am crying a river!!!! all those years I watched sex and the city and always always wanted Aidan to win out carries heart over Mr Big. And now 13 years since she last saw him… Aidan claims his rightful place."

Someone else added: "Even though #AndJustLikeThat has had its ups and downs, it’s been worth it just to see Carrie and Aidan back together. The way I GASPED, even though we all knew it was coming. I think we can all agree that Mr Big was the worst and Aidan was the best."

But viewers immediately began to worry about whether it could really be happy ever after for Carrie and Aidan.

One fan tweeted: "I swear, my heart stopped for a second, I had to catch my breath. Carrie, please don’t hurt Aidan again!"

Someone else wrote: "MY HEART CRIED…. Aidan ran into her in Dubai years ago & now they’re both meeting in their 50’s Hope she doesn’t break his heart AGAIN."

Another viewer referenced one of Carrie's less popular exes, writing: "Carrie Bradshaw, God as my witness, if you mess with Aidan and break his heart again I will deliver Jack Berger to your front door."
