Katherine Jenkins supported as she shares throwback clip in emotional family post

Katherine Jenkins has shared an emotional throwback clip with her followers. The 43-year-old has reflected on the time she competed on Dancing with the Stars, and specifically when she performed a routine in memory of her late date.

The Welsh singer competed on Dancing with the Stars alongside professional dancer Mark Ballas, who is Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas' son, back in 2012. Katherine did incredibly well on the American series, making it all the way to the final where she was just pipped to the post by professional American footballer Donald Driver.

Sharing a throwback of a stunning routine from week three of the competition, which was about personal stories, Katherine shared a candid post about her father Selwyn Jenkins who died after a battle with lung cancer when she was a teenager.

She captioned the video, which she shared with her 134K followers: "12 years ago this week, I danced a waltz in memory of my dad on Dancing with the Stars (Week 3 was about personal stories)."

She added: "I will always be so thankful to @markballas for his genius choreography in helping me express this part of my life on the dance floor." Katherine's post was flooded with kind messages from her followers as one wrote: "So beautiful! I can only imagine how proud he would be of you."

While another added: "I remember watching this and sobbing. So beautiful, so touching. My gorgeous friend he would be so very proud of you darling." As a thid commented: "Katherine 12 years ago when you danced this amazing tribute an incredible & emotional dance for your Dad. With your Dad watching over you and holding you throughout it. Being so proud of you in this exceptional and moving dance and everything you have gone on to do and continue to do. You should have won the series."
