Katie Price criticised for pet care as over 20k sign petition to ban her from owning animals

A petition to ban Katie Price from buying any new pets has garnered more than 20,500 signatures.

The 44-year-old reality star and mother-of-five — who currently owns dogs Blade, Buddy and Captain, cat Hagrid and several horses and ponies — is being targeted by concerned animal lovers who believes pets are not safe in her home.

The online petition is titled "Ban Katie Price from buying anymore animals [sic]" and has been signed by more than 20,500 people.

It cites the tragic death of several of Price's pets in recent years for the reason it believes she is not a suitable pet owner and is addressed to animal rights charities RSPCA and PETA.

In August 2020 a French Bulldog puppy called Rolo, which Price bought her daughter Princess for her 13th birthday, suffocated to death by getting stuck under an armchair, just days after it had arrived in their home.

Rolo died just a few months after Price’s pet Alsatian was killed after being hit by a car.

In 2018, the animal-lover’s dog Queenie died after apparently being hit by a delivery driver.

One of Price's horses was killed in a car accident in 2017 after escaped from its field.

And her home improvement show Katie Price's Mucky Mansion revealed he home to be littered with animal faeces.

Yahoo UK has contacted representatives for Price and the RSPCA.

On Wednesday, Price pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order against ex-husband Kieran Hayler's partner.

The 44-year-old reality star and mother-of-five appeared at Lewes Crown Court on Wednesday 25 May for allegedly breaching a restraining order by sending foul-mouthed texts aimed at Hayler's partner Michelle Penticost.

Price, who was supported by fiance Carl Woods, at the hearing, entered a plea of guilty.

She wore a black coat, black leggings and white boots as she appeared before judge Stephen Mooney.

Price married third husband Hayler in 2013 and they share and Jett, eight, and Bunny, seven. The couple renewed their marriage vows three times before splitting in 2018.

The former glamour model has just escaped a jail sentence for speeding charges, which took place just days before her drink-drive crash.

Her case was heard remotely at at Crawley Magistrates' Court under the single justice procedure, which means she will face a fine as well as points on her licence or a further driving ban.

Price — who was declared bankrupt in 2019 — received a suspended sentence in December after she pled guilty to drink-driving in the early hours of 29 September.

She was given a four month suspended sentence and ordered to complete 20 hours of rehab and 100 hours of community service.
