New mother Katy Perry shared a post-baby photograph as she recreated her own hilarious “red carpet look” at home to mark the MTV Video Music Awards.

Perry, 35, and Orlando Bloom, 43, welcomed daughter Daisy Dove Bloom earlier this week.

The couple said they were “floating with love and wonder” following the birth of their first child together.

While the VMAs got underway in various locations in New York City, Perry shared her own “look” for the evening on Instagram.

Taking a photo of herself in her underwear in her bathroom, Perry jokingly tagged “exhaustion” as the creator of her hair and make-up.

She tagged the brand of her underwear for her fans and shared a VMAs graphic.

Perry's unique take on the ceremony was in keeping with a show which bore little resemblance to those in previous years, with performances taking place outside and in front of severely limited audiences due to the health crisis.

The ceremony was dedicated to Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, who died on Friday aged 43 following a four-year battle with colon cancer .

There was also a tribute to New York’s frontline workers who risked their lives when the city was ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic, while Canadian singer The Weeknd used his acceptance speech for the coveted video of the year award to demand justice in the cases of two African Americans shot by police.

The birth of Perry and Bloom's daughter was announced through Unicef earlier this week. The couple are both goodwill ambassadors for the charity.

"We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” the couple said in statement, alongside a black and white picture of them holding Daisy’s tiny hand.

Posted @withregram • @unicef Welcome to the world, Daisy Dove Bloom! We are honoured to introduce Goodwill Ambassadors @KatyPerry and @OrlandoBloom’s new bundle of joy.⠀ ⠀ “We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” Katy and Orlando told us.⠀ ⠀ “But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.⠀ ⠀ “As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, we know UNICEF is there, on the ground, doing whatever it takes to make sure every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare. In celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has, we have set up a donation page to celebrate DDB’s arrival. By supporting them, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child. We hope your ♥️ can bloom with generosity.⠀ ⠀ Gratefully-⠀ ⠀ Katy & Orlando.”⠀ ⠀ Please tap the link in our bio to support the most precious gift: a healthy child.

The pop singer launched her new album Smile on Friday. In a social media post shared from her hospital bed, Perry said she hoped the album, her sixth, would cheer up her fans.

"IT’S HERE! IT’S REALLY HERE!” the star said. “I finally got back my smile! Hope this record puts one on your face. #SMILE IS OUT EVERYWHERE NOW! LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH ENJOY (sent from my hospital bed lol).”

Earlier this month Perry described being pregnant during a pandemic as an ”emotional rollercoaster“.

US singer Perry and British Pirates Of The Caribbean star Bloom are engaged and have been dating since 2016.

Perry, whose hits include Firework, Roar and California Gurls, announced she was pregnant in March, revealing the news in the music video for her single Never Worn White.

A month later, she revealed they were expecting a girl. Bloom was previously married to Australian model Miranda Kerr, and they have a son, nine-year-old Flynn.
