Keavy man arrested after police pursuit

Mar. 5—A man has been arrested following a police chase over the weekend that ended in Knox County.

Daniel Snead, 33, of Keavy, was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree Fleeing Or Evading Police (motor vehicle), second-degree Wanton Endangerment, Possession Of A Firearm By A Convicted Felon, Tampering With Physical Evidence, and other traffic-related charges.

According to Corbin Police, the department was first notified after a local convenience store reported that an individual was making threats on the premises.

Subsequently, Corbin Police Officers William Stewart and Caleb Hester patrolled the area in search of the vehicle that the individual was driving.

Upon attempting to stop a vehicle matching the description, police say that vehicle fled and the operator — later identified as Snead — was observed to have been waving a firearm around inside of the vehicle.

Snead eventually stop and surrendered to Corbin Police after the chase led them into Knox County.

It was also discovered that Snead had thrown the weapon out the window at some point during the chase.

Kentucky State Police eventually recovered the firearm.

Snead was housed in the Knox County Detention Center, where he remained lodged at press time in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

Pleading not guilty when he was arraigned Monday morning, Snead is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Knox District Court next Tuesday.
