Sir Keir Starmer is expected to become the next Prime Minister but his wife keeps a low profile.

Lady Victoria Starmer, who works as an occupation therapist for the NHS, married Sir Keir in 2007. They live in a townhouse in the Labour leader's Holborn and St Pancras constituency in North London and have two teenage children.

Both Sir Keir and Lady Victoria trained as lawyers, which is how they met in the early 2000s. According to unofficial biographer Nigel Cawthorne, who wrote 'Keir Starmer, A Life of Contrasts': "He rang her and, having never spoken to her before, queried whether the brief she had sent him was less than '100% accurate'.

"Unflustered, Victoria firmly held her ground against the caller on the other side of the line, reassuring him that she knew her job and, after putting the phone down, said, 'Who the f*** does he think he is?'"

Sir Keir, whose Labour Party is enjoying a commanding lead in the opinion polls before July 4's vote, spoke about their first meeting when he appeared on Piers Morgan's Life Stories in 2020. He said: "I was doing a case in court and it all depended on whether the documents were accurate.

"I [asked the team] who actually drew up these documents, they said a woman called Victoria, so I said let's get her on the line."

Fortunately, their next encounter went more smoothly. Sir Keir and Lady Lady Victoria sat next to each other at a legal dinner and she felt sorry for him when he - a pescatarian - was served meat. They then went on a first date to Camden pub The Lord Stanley.

Their son has since described Sir Keir's choice of location as the least romantic spot possible, but Lady Victoria praised him for walking her to the bus stop afterwards and they continued to date. The Labour leader proposed on holiday in Santorini and they married in 2007.

The following year, Sir Keir became Director of Public Prosecutions and later moved into politics, becoming a Labour MP in 2015. Unlike Rishi Sunak, whose wife Akshata Murty introduced him at last year's Tory conference, Lady Victoria largely remains out of the limelight.

In a 2023 interview with the Sunday Mirror, Sir Keir said about Lady Victoria: "She's a streetwise grounded, brilliant, gorgeous woman who wants as far as she can to get on with her own life and to protect it.

“She loves working for the NHS. She loves the team that she's working with. And she and I are doing our best to raise two happy and confident children and that matters hugely to us."

Lady Victoria appeared on stage with her husband at last year's Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, where the two were pictured sharing a kiss. Unlike Akshata Murty, she did not introduce her husband's speech, however.

Though Lady Victoria has kept a low profile in this general election campaign, she and Sir Keir were pictured at a Taylor Swift concert at London's Wembley Stadium last week. The Leader of the Opposition has been praised for the photo, with commenters saying it looked joyful and natural.

Appearing on This Morning this week, Sir Keir said he spent "fantastic quality time" with his family at the concert, which he described as "brilliant". The 61-year-old said: "I was there with Vic, my wife and our two children. It was phenomenal. It was incredible. She's so good."
