Keys Of Missing Student Found In River

A search team has found a set of keys belonging to a college student who went missing after a night out with friends on Thanksgiving.

Shane Montgomery, 21, stumbled out of a pub in Philadelphia's Manayunk neighbourhood at 2am on Thanksgiving. The West Chester University student had met up with friends.

The keys were found in the Schuylkill River by the Garden State Underwater Recovery Unit, a team of divers and other experts helping in the search.

Mr Montgomery's uncle, Kevin Verbrugghe, told the Philadelphia Inquirer that the keys were found in the water after four hours of search on Sunday.

Mr Verbrugghe said he confirmed the keys were his nephew's by trying them in Mr Montgomery's front door.

No further evidence was found about the fate of Mr Montgomery.

Family members said they would "continue to hope for further evidence".

Mr Montgomery’s mother thanked her community for the support.

"I appreciate everybody's prayers and thoughts, and want people to know that we aren't going to stop looking until we find Shane," Karen Montgomery was quoted as saying by local reports.

"That's what we need, is prayers and thoughts, and we need to find him and bring him home."

FBI officials said earlier this month that CCTV had shown Mr Montgomery walking between the Manayunk Canal and the Schuylkill River soon after he left the Kildare's Irish Pub.
