A Kidlington business is set to host a 500-mile, virtual cycle relay to raise money for a homelessness charity.

From July 15 to 18, Intertronics, an adhesives supplier, will run Wheeling to Wiesbaden.

The event will see participants pedalling on stationary bikes for four days to cover the distance from Kidlington to Wiesbaden in Germany, where its supplier, Dymax Europe, is headquartered.

Intertronics team members, suppliers, customers, and friends are invited to take part.

The aim is to raise £5,000 for Emmaus Oxford and support homeless people in the community.

The charity provides support to 28 formerly homeless people by offering them homes and work opportunities within social enterprises.

The fundraising target could provide almost four months of housing for one person, or pay for 385 hours of sessions with a support worker or 200 counselling sessions.

Ben Swanson, chief commercial officer at Intertronics, said: "While it's certainly going to be an endurance challenge, the event is designed to allow our entire team, and wider network, to participate in a way that they feel comfortable with.

“We might see some people having a short cycle on their lunch break, and I expect our more competitive team members will try to rack up more miles than anyone else."

He added: "This event aligns closely with our company values. We are proud to support our local community, especially as we are collaborating with customers, friends, and suppliers."
