He’s developed an international reputation as a tyrannical despot, but Kim Jong Un reportedly indulges a more human side by having a girl band that travels with him to perform karaoke across North Korea.

The unlikely hobby was revealed by former NBA star Dennis Rodman, who has become unexpectedly close with the North Korean leader in recent years after a series of visits to the hermit state.

More recently, he has embarked on a ‘humanitarian’ tour of Asia to pitch a basketball game between North Korea and U.S. territory Guam in an attempt to bring the two countries together.

Speaking to ABC News afterwards, he opened up on Kim’s apparent love of karaoke – revealing that the dictator chooses to belt out Frank Sinatra’s My Way.

‘He’s pretty good’, Rodman said.

‘He had his girl band, 14 girls that travel with him everywhere to play his music… he was singing it in North Korean.

‘There was like 70 people at this big round table, I’m like, “Wow.” Everybody had their turn, had a shot of vodka, took a vodka shot and then try to sing karaoke.’

Despite repeated threats to attack the US with a nuclear bomb, Rodman also claimed that Kim is keen to visit New York.

‘Every time you see us talking like this, We are talking about basketball,’ Rodman said.

‘One time, he said, “Dennis, I would love to go to New York, to Madison Square Garden. He says, ‘I’d love to go to New York, but I can’t…” He says stuff like that.’
