Kim Kardashian is no stranger to controversy. From her internet-breaking magazine shoots and controversial fashion choices – she’s certainly not for the faint of heart.

And now the 38-year-old has made a shocking new confession. Speaking on the latest series of Keeping Up with the Kardashian she admits to experimenting with drugs during her twenties.

The reality star, who has often claimed to rarely drink alcohol, says she was under the influence both when she married her first husband Damon Thomas in 2000 and when making her sex tape with singer Ray J in 2007.

On Sunday night’s episode she warned younger sister Kendall Jenner and Scott Disick, father to her sister Kourtney Kardashian’s three children, that ‘everything bad would happen’ when she took the drug ecstasy.

“I got married on ecstasy, the first time. I did ecstasy once and I got married. I did it again and I made a sex tape. Like everything bad would happen.”

“You were high on ecstasy when you made the sex tape?” a stunned Disick asked.

“Absolutely!” replied Kardashian. “Everyone knows it. Like my jaw was shaking. Like the whole time.”

And as any Keeping Up with the Kardashians fan will know, her family have been far from immune to substance abuse. Both Scott Disick and Khloe Kardashian’s ex-husband Lamar Odom have sort private rehab treatment for substance abuse. And it has long been rumoured that brother Rob Kardashian struggles with depression and substance abuse.

While Kim’s husband Kanye West, has rapped about drugs on multiple of his tracks, and even confessed to once being addicted to opioids after having liposuction in 2016.

“Two days before I was in the hospital, I was on opioids. I was addicted to opioids. I had plastic surgery because I was trying to look good for y’all,” he told TMZ back in May of this year.

Kim Kardashian shot to fame in 2007 thanks to her sex tape with singer Ray J and the phenomenally successful reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians that launched on E! the following year.

The sex tape has generated over $100 million (£77.8 in sales), and been streamed over 210 million times. The film’s distributor, Steven Hirsch of Vivid Entertainment, admitted in 2017 that Kim sold the rights of the tape to his company.

“Ultimately she did sell us the footage so we had the ability to put it out and distribute it. I can only say that it’s the most popular tape we’ve ever done. Revenue-wise it has generated more income than any other tape that we’ve done,” Hirsch told The Sun.
