It is officially happening. Pop princess Kylie Minogue will be playing Glastonbury Festival in 2019. After months of rumours that the Aussie pop star and former Neighbours actress was set to appear, the festival’s official Twitter page has confirmed the good news.

The ‘I should be so lucky’ singer will be performing on the festival’s coveted Sunday afternoon “legends” slot. Writing on their official page: “We are delighted to announce that Kylie is finally bringing her show to Glastonbury. She’ll play the legendary Sunday afternoon slot at next year’s Festival. And we cannot wait.”

Minogue follows icons like Lionel Richie and Dolly Parton who’ve played the “legends” slot on the final day of the festival in recent years.

And Minogue has also confirmed the booking. Writing on her official Twitter page: “I’m so thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing the ‘Legend slot’ on Sunday 30th June at @GlastoFest 2019. It will be 14 years since I was originally meant to appear there and so much has happened up to now. I can’t wait to see you all there to share this special show.”

Minogue was forced to pull out of Glastonbury back in 2004 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Basement Jaxx stepped in and included a cover of her mega-hit ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head‘ in their set.

During the same weekend Coldplay’s Chris Martin paid tribute to Minogue by remarking: “Everyone’s paid to see Kylie as well. Shouldn’t we remember absent friends?”

Minogue is the second major artist to be confirmed for Glastonbury 2019’s line-up. Stormzy being the first, who will be headlining on the Friday evening.
