Kym Marsh has told her mum she 'knows' her dad is with her as she kicks off her latest role. The actress and presenter has recently started her stint playing iconic Disney villain Cruella De Vil in the stage version of 101 Dalmatians.

This new musical is written by Douglas Hodge (music and lyrics) and Johnny McKnight (book), from a stage adaptation by Zinnie Harris and is reimagined from the acclaimed Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production in 2022.

The UK and Ireland tour began last Sunday, June 22, at the New Wimbledon Theatre and it will come to Manchester's Palace Theatre for 11 dates between July 30 and August 10, with Kym in the lead role, while some dates will see Steps singer Faye Tozer taking on the memorable character.

Announcing the news on BBC's Morning Live in April, Kym said: "I am about to go off on tour and play Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians. I am so excited, it's really funny because everyone that knows me, including you, would say 'Kym's such a dog lover' so it's weird because obviously I have to pretend that I don't like the dogs.

"And the family are all excited, because obviously it's a very family show, if you're going to come to the theatre you can bring the kids, there's something for everyone."

Now a few shows in, Kym has taken to social media to share a string of images from the production with the former Coronation Street star looking fabulous as the notorious fashionista.

Alongside the photo, Kym, 47, wrote on Instagram: "So excited to share these fabulous new shots from our wonderful show @101dalmatiansuk so so proud to be a part of such a fantastic team!! Don’t forget to grab your tickets!!!!"

Kym's mum, Pauline, was among the to respond to the post, sweetly writing to her daughter: "Amazing, I can’t wait to see it, so very proud of you kym , remember dad is with you always." Kym, who announced the heartbreaking death of her father, Dave, alongside her family in January, replied: "Ahh mum I know he is!! Always! Can’t wait for you to see it."

And her fans and followers were also keen to show some support. @stefani_160113 said: "Can’t wait to come and see you in this show. Looks amazing." @lesaitken commented: "Fabulous. It looks incredible and I can’t wait to see the show. You go girl & rocking the part." @marshysfanpage wrote: "So proud of you! I cannot wait to come and watch. You’re amazing!"

@michellewardingley replied: "Looks FANTASTIC Kym." @xx_carchelle_xx posted: "Looks amazing. I can't wait to come & watch it in Birmingham." @kellypoole86 added: "Looks amazing, can't wait to come see it."

It comes after Kym said that her beloved dad Dave, who died after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, would have "loved" his daughter's latest role. Adding on BBC's Morning Live when announcing her job news, Kym said: "The sad part is that he won't be around to see it but he would have loved it, he would have been so thrilled to see me play this part but it has come at a good time, give me a bit of a lift and something to get my head into and really look forward to."
