Labour cuts! Ed Miliband mows constituent's LAWN while out campaigning

Ed Miliband may not have become Prime Minister in 2015 but he’s doing everything he can to remain an MP after the General Election.

In fact, the former Labour leader decided to get properly stuck in by mowing the lawn of a constituent in Doncaster North as part of a “grassroots strategy”.

Photographs emerged on Twitter and Facebook showing the backbencher pushing the lawnmower as he joined councillors canvassing in the Moorends area on Monday.

One campaigner posted the pictures on Facebook and claimed that Mr Miliband’s green fingers had won the vote of the surprised householder.

Jayne Naphtali shared the photographs with the caption: “Out canvassing with Ed Miliband and he starts mowing the lawn for a lady (we have her vote!).”

The Labour MP reposted the pictures and added the message: “Attn: Doncaster North voters. Labour’s grassroots strategy in action.”

He also retweeted a different photograph posted by Jane Nightingale, councillor for Bentley, which she said was a “bit more of a close up to show he really did mow the lawn”.

Mr Miliband was canvassing with Doncaster Council Labour councillors standing for re-election in local elections on Thursday.

He will stand for re-election in his Doncaster North constituency in the General Election on June 8.

Since becoming a backbencher, a more relaxed Mr Miliband has become something of a Twitter superstar, choosing to mix dry wit with policy.

This week, he sent a tweet to Prime Minister Theresa May saying “we should talk” after pictures emerged of her eating chips on the campaign trail.

Mr Miliband was referencing embarrassing photos of him eating a bacon sandwich during the 2015 General Election campaign.
