Landspout Forms Over North Lexington

The National Weather Service (NWS) said it observed a landspout in Kentucky on Friday, May 27.

Caleb Wayne Barker said they filmed this footage from north Lexington on Friday afternoon.

According to the NOAA, a landspout is “a tornado with a narrow, rope-like condensation funnel that forms while the thunderstorm cloud is still growing and there is no rotating updraft,” adding that “the spinning motion originates near the ground.”

The NWS said there would be no more precipitation over the holiday weekend. Credit: Caleb Wayne Baker via Storyful
