New Lark Lane venue opens with 'amazing cakes' and stellar reviews

Gran Caffè's new venture to Lark Lane has received rave reviews just days after opening.

The business is known across Liverpool for its Italian coffee, handcrafted pastries, delicious sandwiches and award-winning, artisan gelato that’s made in-house every day.

Owned by Italian brothers Paolo and Donato Cillo, Gran Caffè first opened in Williamson Square as part of the popular Italian Quarter over 10 years ago. Since then, the family business has opened another coffee shop on Duke Street in December 2023.

The latest store opened on Lark Lane on Saturday, June 29. The first 100 guests were treated to a complimentary coffee, croissant, or scoop of gelato, while the very first person received the famous giant croissant.

One happy customer left a rave review on Gran Caffè's Instagram page, saying: "Fantastic place, called in yesterday with family had amazing coffee and cakes." Another added: "Gosh, we visited today on our first visit to Lark Lane. Amazing cakes, drinks and hospitality. Good luck."

A third said: "Amazing place!" A final review added: "Fabulous place and cakes are amazing."

Donato Cillo, owner of Gran Caffè, said: “After 10 years of Gran Caffè in the Italian Quarter, and having opened on Duke Street in December 2023, it was only a matter of time before we expanded into South Liverpool.

The venue serves up a delicious range of breakfast options, sandwiches, and salads, with small and large plates available for lunch and dinner.
