Whisky drinkers can enjoy a tipple or two as the country’s top distilleries descend on one South Lanarkshire village later this summer.

Members of Stonehouse Whisky Club will host its first whisky festival in August with the last few remaining tickets available to be snapped up.

All five Scotch Whisky regions - Campbeltown, Highland, Islay, Lowland and Speyside - will be represented by around 20 exhibitors.

These include prominent distilleries Annandale, Auchentoshan, Bruichladdich by Artisan, GlenAllachie, Glengoyne, Glen Scotia, Loch Lomond, Kingsbarns, Speyside Distillers and Tamdhu as well as well known independent bottlers such as Dam Good Drams, Dram Mor, FIB Whisky, Fragrant Drops, Lady of The Glen, Saltire Rare Malts, The Single Cask and Uncharted Whisky.

Stonehouse Whisky Club president John Thomson said: “A big thanks also to all the people who have helped in organising the event and to the sponsors who have backed us.

“It doesn’t seem that long ago when we first started thinking about running a whisky festival and it’s fantastic to see everything come to fruition.

“We think this is Lanarkshire’s first whisky festival. It’s certainly the first in Stonehouse and we are really looking forward to welcoming everyone along.

“We started the whisky club back in 2017 and now have 22 members. We now have 22 members with a long waiting list to join.

“Over the years we have sampled approximately 600 whiskies.”

On the day itself, whisky experts will be on hand to let you sample the drinks and learn more about their speciality tipple.

Scotland’s latest, greatest and most exciting drinks brands will serve taster size signature samples. Bottles will be available for purchase on the day from each vendor should you want to grab a bottle to take home with you.

The festival will also feature fresh culinary delights from JNKYRD, one of the local area’s best pop-up street food specialists and a bar will open if you fancy a drink other than whisky.

All sampled drinks are included in the ticket price but if you want to pick up any extra bottles, glassware or street food you will need to part with a few pennies.

Kieran Adie, the festival director, said: “We’re thrilled at last to announce this enriched festival experience. The first ever Stonehouse Whisky event will certainly live up to our nation’s global reputation within the drinks industry.

“We will showcase an authentic and credible Scottish drink tasting experience in an unexpected, memorable way.”

The Stonehouse Whisky Festival will be held in the village’s Masonic Hall on Saturday, August 10, over two sessions from midday to 3pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £35 and are available by logging onto https://stonehouse-whisky.eventcube.io/
