More than four years have passed since Covid-19 was first identified and we quickly learned that this respiratory virus presented a variety of symptoms and evolved into different strains, each with its own set of symptoms. In spring 2024 another new Covid variant emerged raising questions about the vaccine's efficacy in preventing its transmission.

The UK Health Security Agency's most recent Covid data shows that hospital admissions increased by 24% in the week up to June 23 with a rate of 3.31 per 100,000 people compared with 2.67 per 100,000 in the previous week.

According to the NHS the following are the most common symptoms of Covid:
a high temperature or shivering/chills
a new continuous cough
a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
shortness of breath
fatigue or exhaustion
aching body
a headache
sort throat
blocked or runny nose
loss of appetite
diarrhoea
feeling sick or being sick
What are the signs of long Covid?
According to the NHS the most common symptoms of long Covid are:
extreme tiredness (fatigue)
feeling short of breath
loss of smell
muscle aches
However other symptoms can include:
problems with your memory and concentration ("brain fog")
chest pain or tightness
difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
heart palpitations
dizziness
pins and needles
joint pain
depression and anxiety
tinnitus, earaches
feeling sick, diarrhoea, stomach aches, loss of appetite
a high temperature, cough, headaches, sore throat, changes to sense of smell or taste
rashes
