Emmerdale stars Laura Norton and Mark Jordon have announced the birth of their first child.

The soap stars - who play Kerry Wyatt and Daz Spencer in the ITV series - shared pictures on Instagram of baby boy Jesse, who was born in the early hours of Friday 29th of January at the Royal Oldham hospital in Manchester, weighing 8lb 10 oz.

Norton, 37, revealed: “So, on Friday Jan 29th at 1.30am we managed to bring this little champ into the world. It was the most incredible, surreal experience I have ever had and probably ever will and my tiny mind is blown.

Jordon, 56, shared a picture of Norton and their son, taken shortly after she had given birth, gushing: “So proud to announce that on Friday 29th Jan at 1.30am @laura_norts gave birth to our beautiful baby boy . Weighing 8lb 10oz , both returned home that day. Huge thank you to the wonderful midwifes @roh_birthcentre . Welcome to the world Jesse Jordon.”

Norton is a first time mum, while Jordon is already father to son Joseph, 23, and daughter Poppy, 20, with ex-wife, Happy Valley star Siobhan Finneran, who he starred with on 1960s police drama Heartbeat. The couple divorced in 2014.

Jordon met Norton when he first appeared in Emmerdale in 2014, and became a fulltime cast member in 2017. They announced their engagement on New Year’s Day 2019, although Norton let slip they had been engaged for seven months by that time.

The couple made headlines when Jordon was accused of assaulting an OAP whilst celebrating their engagement at an Oldham pub in 2018 - charges he was later cleared of.

He said afterwards: “I was portrayed as a violent drunk.

"I’d never been in a fight before, never been in trouble with the law, never been in a cell or a police car, apart from a 1960s one in Heartbeat.”

They shared the news of Norton’s pregnancy in OK! magazine in August last year.
