A Leeds pizza parlour has been slapped with a one-star hygiene rating after numerous areas needed cleaning.

Pizza Top in Hunslet Road was visited by inspectors on June 26. A one star rating means the premises is in need of 'major improvement'.

Inspectors wrote the dough trays, dough mixer, pizza base trays and containers with food in them needed cleaning. As did various counter edges, walls, ceiling, and floor.

They mentioned the wall in the corridor was "dirty" and flaking with paint. The pizza oven, microwave oven, freezer, pizza topping fridge, handrail on the stairs, covers to fans in the walk-in chiller, also needed cleaning.

The inspector also noted there was no Safer Food Better Business Pack in the premises. There was a food-diary but it was not up-to-date. The takeaway was also told to fill out an allergen matrix.

Pizza Top was contacted for comment.
