A Lennoxtown family have issued a warning on social media after a fake account posted a link claiming to be a live stream for a beloved member of the community's funeral.

James McGregor sadly passed away on April 29 leaving many in the East Dunbartonshire town devastated.

The 89-year-old was a well-known figure after he founded the Lennox Service Station in 1979. The business is still run by the family to this day.

Due to his popularity, the family organised for the service to be live streamed.

However, after the announcement was made on the Lennox Service Station social media page they quickly warned people not to click on a scam link created by a fake profile.

Mere days before the funeral the account appeared on Facebook using James' likeness claiming to host a link for those wishing to pay their respects to the much loved figure.

The business posted on Sunday, May 11: "We have just been made aware of a FAKE profile with a link to a live stream for tomorrow's funeral.
