Lewis Hamilton looks set to sign a new multi-million-pound deal with Mercedes after Toto Wolff committed to another year with them.

The team principal has been linked with moves, and the British driver has made no secret that his future at Mercedes is tied to that of his close confidant.

Last night, Wolff committed to staying in 2021, paving the way for Hamilton to agree a new contract.

“I love this team and I think this is my place,” said Wolff.

"It is just [that] eight years as a team principal is taking its toll and it is something I am reflecting on.

"It is important to take the right decision for my family or myself but you you can sure I will be involved in this team in one way or another."

The news is a boost after Hamilton was denied victory at the Italian Grand Prix where he was penalised for coming in for a pitstop under the safety car when the pitlane was closed.

The stewards sent him to the back of the grid but he finished seventh as Pierre Gasly took his first victory for Alpha Tauri.
