Ant McPartlin's ex-wife Lisa Armstrong hits back after being 'sacked' from Britain's Got Talent
Stephen Mulhern all but confirmed on Monday that Ant McPartlin will return to television in the new year on Britain’s Got Talent – and just hours later it was reported that McPartlin’s ex-wife Lisa Armstrong had been fired from her make-up job on the same show.
Lisa Armstrong divorced Ant McPartlin, her husband of 11 years, back in October and has continued to work as an in-demand television make-up artist on shows like Strictly Come Dancing.
A friend of Armstrong told the Mirror that Armstrong had seen the ‘sacking’ coming.
“Lisa was officially told last week but knew it was coming for months,” the source told the newspaper.
And it looks like the 42-year-old has strongly hinted at her dismissal, as she’s ‘liked’ and even retweeted a flurry of tweets on Twitter from fans that have rushed to her defence over the alleged occurrence.
Armstrong liked a tweet from a user that said she should ‘keep that head held high’ and replied with ‘I know babe, gutted after 12 years.’ The twelve years presumedly referring directly to Britain’s Got Talent, which first began in 2007.

While she thanked another user who said she ‘felt so sorry’ for Armstrong and ‘now to axe her from #bgt is bull***.’

And she thanked yet another supporter who remarked that the commenters to a The Sun article on the same subject were remarkably in Armstrong’s corner.
Thanks babe, knew you’d be behind me. When can I see your pics of the big day? #meninbushes How’s Mum? x https://t.co/F7p1wQIaRL

The official reasons for the alleged dismissal are unknown, but some reports say she became obsessed with getting ‘media attention’ while others say that it would simply be too awkward for her to work with her ex-husband again.
The couple were together for 23 years and married in 2006.
McPartlin has been absent from television for most of this year, following his battle with alcohol and substance abuse and drunk driving arrest.
While Holly Willoughby stepped in for his hosting duties on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me out of Here! he is reportedly keen to return to his regular hosting duties – kicking off with Britain’s Got Talent in early 2019.
