Lisa Armstrong has lashed out at her estranged husband by 'liking' a series of tweets branding him an “absolute scumbag” in the wake of his new romance.

Ant McPartlin was pictured with his personal assistant Anne-Marie Corbett over the weekend, months after splitting from his wife of 11 years. It was revealed the pair have been dating after growing close in the wake of his admission to rehab.

Fans branded McPartlin a “scumbag” and accused him of treating Armstrong “abysmally”. Showing her thanks for the words of support, Armstrong liked a string of tweets slating the TV presenter.

One of the posts read: “Absolute scumbag, I will never be a fan of Ant ever again I don’t want to be the ‘all men are the same’ brigade but this is awful MOST men are the same and there are gold digging h*** everywhere to take up the opportunity when they want to stray.”

Another said: “I’m appalled at the way Ant has treated you after 24 years together, hold your head high karma will get them.”

A third read: “Nothing like being stabbed in the back by people close to you. Won't last long now it’s not a dirty secret, it never does Onwards and Upwards hun (sic).”

Armstrong, who is currently still married to McPartlin, previously claimed that she found out about her husband’s new relationship through the press. She also revealed she has yet to hear from him.

Responding to a Twitter follower who had said she “hoped he didn’t let you find out from the media”, Armstrong replied: “Nope. Just how you guys did.”

But she reportedly suspected the couple were dating months before the news broke after she saw pictures of McPartlin carrying a packed lunch, apparently prepared by Corbett.

“When the news came out, it all clicked into place. She was heartbroken,” a source told the Daily Mirror.

McPartlin and Corbett grew close after “living in each other’s pockets, day in, day out,” while the Britain’s Got Talent host recovered from his addiction, according to The Sun.

He sought treatment after a drink-driving crash in March between the Mini he was driving and two other vehicles.

He was arrested and later fined £86,000 and banned from driving for 20 months.
