A rep for the band has insisted that the girls WERE singing live and that fans who commented otherwise were mistaken.

Speaking to The Mirror, their rep said: “The girls were singing live.”

Following the performance yesterday evening listeners took to Twitter to say that they thought the band was miming after they heard a backing track of vocals after the performance had ended.

One viewer said: ‘Defo heard the track playing once they stopped.’

Gutted if little mix were just caught miming then. Defo heard the track playing once they stopped @BBCR1 @LittleMix #BBCMusicAwards #mixers

Another tweeted: ‘Those sound levels mean Little Mix were definitely miming their chorus.’

While one fan added: ‘Not being funny but miming at the chorus little mix?! Reduce the dancing and actually sing!! Your singers not dancers!’

The four-piece received similar backlash after they performed at this week’s Royal Variety Performance.

Speaking on social media, viewers suspected that they might have got some help as they sang Love Me Like You.

One wrote: ‘Are those massive mics there to cover the fact Little Mix are miming or…?’

However, as one fan pointed out – it’s probably just the case that they use a backing track.

'They didn’t mime you could tell that, they just had a backing track which they always do when they perform that song :)’ they wrote on Twitter.

The band themselves are yet to comment on the claims however, tweeting photos from the event.
