Little Mix slam claims 'Shout Out To My Ex' sounds like GRL's 'Ugly Heart'

When Little Mix performed their new single, ‘Shout Out To My Ex’, on The X Factor earlier this month, there were three types of people.

There were those who were wishing that they were the fifth member of the band, those who were ridiculously slamming the girls for wearing “provocative outfits”, and then there were the people who were claiming that the new song sounded exactly like GRL’s single, 'Ugly Heart’.

Before long, the similarities between the two songs were taking social media by storm, with GRL even taking to their official Twitter page to share the hashtag #ShoutOutToUglyHeart as they caught wind of the drama.

Now Little Mix have hit back at claims that they ripped off 'Ugly Heart’ with the song, accusing GRL of trying to gain publicity through them.

Speaking on Belgian radio station Qmusic, the girls were asked what they thought of the outrage and Perrie Edwards replied: “I just think, stop trying to hop on the bandwagon.”

Jesy Nelson added: “Stop trying to get publicity!”

Ever the mediator, Jade Thirlwall took more of a diplomatic approach as she insisted: “Every song is going to have a similar chord sequence, slightly similar lyrics and melodies. It happens all the time.

"It doesn’t mean that they’re not both incredible songs. I think maybe because it was a girl band as well. I just think people like to have something negative to say.”

Over the weekend, Little Mix also hit back at the backlash surrounding their racy outfits, with Jesy simply posing for a photo in a top that had 'Too provocative?’ emblazoned across the bottom of it.

Never change, girls, never change.
