It remains to be seen when Liverpool will make their first signing of the summer.

Arne Slot will be busy assessing his squad before taking charge of pre-season training next month. Slot is the new head coach of Liverpool and gave his first interview with the club's media channel on Wednesday.

Work will be underway behind the scenes as Liverpool prepare to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Premier League season. Rumours have already been swirling as to which players the Reds could target, and that is not likely to change for a few months, at least.

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool have stepped up their interest in signing Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The report states that the Reds have made an approach to the Serie A club about the Kvaratskhelia's availability this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain also apparently interested in the Georgia international.

The report claims that Liverpool have contacted Napoli to enquire about their asking price for a potential deal for Kvaratskhelia. This, the article claims, also apparently includes potential wage demands for the player who helped Napoli win the Serie A title in the 2022/23 season.

Elsewhere, Liverpool may have been dealt a blow in their reported pursuit of Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. The Reds have been credited with an interest in signing the Netherlands international for several months.

According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Atalanta will meet with Juventus in the coming days to discuss a deal to sign Koopmeiners. It has been claimed that the move could be worth €60 million (£51 million) if an agreement is reached between the two clubs.

Liverpool have been rumoured to be interested in signing Koopmeiners ever since he was at AZ Alkmaar. Juventus and Manchester United have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the midfielder, who is starring for the Netherlands at Euro 2024 this summer.
