How Liverpool could line up against AS Roma in Uefa Champions League semi-final at Anfield

Jurgen Klopp faces one significant selection dilemma as Liverpool prepare for their first Champions League semi-final in a decade: who will play in central midfield?

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Georginio Wijnaldum are vying for a place alongside Jordan Henderson and James Milner in the middle of the park, with Emre Can unavailable.

Oxlade-Chamberlain thrived in the quarter-final wins over Manchester City so the former Arsenal man is the favourite to line up in midfield. Unsurprisingly Liverpool’s front three picks itself whilst Klopp’s defence has been much improved in recent months.

Roma coach Eusebio Di Francesco masterminded a 3-0 win over Barcelona with a switch to a back three and may well repeat the trick at Anfield.

The most significant battle for selection in the Giallorossi side will be between Cengiz Under and Patrik Schick, with their manager confirming both have a 50 per cent chance of playing.

Probable line-ups

Liverpool (4-3-3): Karius; Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Lovren, Robertson; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Henderson, Milner; Salah, Firmino, Mane

AS Roma (3-4-2-1): Alisson; Fazio, Manolas, Jesus; Florenzi, De Rossi, Strootman, Kolarov; Nainggolan, Cengiz Under; Dzeko
