Liverpool are reportedly one of a number of clubs targeting Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams in the summer transfer window.

According to HITC, the Reds have joined Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle United in the pursuit of the talented 21-year-old. Last season, Williams was an assist king securing 19 of them in 37 appearances.

On top of those impressive figures, Williams also bagged eight goals. Currently, he is representing Spain at Euro 2024 in Germany and played 68 minutes in the 3-0 victory over Croatia on Saturday evening.

While the forward is clearly in demand and has bags of potential, Liverpool could miss out on his signature this summer. It is understood the youngster wishes to hold out for a dream move to Barcelona.

It is believed the winger, who is pitched as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah at Anfield, has a release clause of £43m but after a fresh round of talks, it is clear the winger only has eyes for Barca. Elsewhere, the Reds have reportedly entered the race for Juventus striker Kenan Yildiz.

The shadow striker scored just six goals this season but most of these appearances came from off the bench. At 19, Yildiz is also seen as an impressive prospect for the future.

A figure of £34m would be enough to secure the Turkish striker's services, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport. Both Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool are thought to be leading the race to sign Yildiz who is also at the Euros this summer and played 85 minutes in Turkey's 3-1 victory over Georgia on Tuesday.
