Arne Slot has spoken for the first time as Liverpool boss, offering supporters an insight into his vision for the club.

The Dutchman has big boots to fill following Jurgen Klopp's exit, though appears to be relishing the challenge of stepping out onto the Anfield touchline to represent the club as head coach.

Plenty has been said in recent weeks regarding whether any of Slot's former Feyenoord squad members could follow him to Merseyside, which will become clearer in the coming weeks.

Before then, we have rounded up talk of one player who could be on his way plus news concerning Trent Alexander-Arnold's international prospects.

Hancko claim

Liverpool-linked defender David Hancko has admitted he was "not surprised" to see Arne Slot move to Anfield this summer.

Hancko, who signed for Feyenoord in 2022, is currently starring at Euro 2024 with Slovakia and was quizzed on his former boss at a press conference.

Offering his thoughts on Slot replacing Jurgen Klopp, he said: "I'm not surprised that such a big club like Liverpool has signed him.

"Hopefully within a few years he will be seen as one of the best trainers in the world. I have been fortunate to work with him over the past two years and he has helped me a lot in my development, including tactically and the system he wants to play in. That has helped me enormously.

"He is a very good coach and I wish him the best of luck. I have a feeling he will do well at Liverpool because he will now be working with better players than at Feyenoord. Although we have had two great seasons, this is a great move for him and I'm not surprised that such a big club like Liverpool has signed him."

The Liverpool ECHO says: It is certainly interesting to see Hancko come out with these comments on his old boss, at a time when he continues to be linked with Liverpool. Were the Reds to approach Feyenoord over a deal, the above comments suggest Hancko would relish the chance of being reunited with Slot on Merseyside. This could well be worth pursuing, especially as Liverpool are lacking in this position.

Alexander-Arnold decision

Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to keep his place in Gareth Southgate's team for England's second Euro 2024 match on Thursday evening.

The Liverpool star started for the Three Lions in their 1-0 win over Serbia on Sunday and is now poised to feature from the off once more as England prepare to take on Denmark at 5pm.

Alexander-Arnold came in for criticism during England's opening game at the weekend, alongside Manchester City's Phil Foden, though The Telegraph have suggested Southgate is ready to "throw his support" behind the duo by picking both players again.

The Liverpool ECHO says: The overreaction to Alexander-Arnold's performance on Sunday will have come as no shock to Liverpool fans, who have become more than used to rival supporters constantly picking holes in the game of the Reds' No.66 - even when there has been little to complain about. It is about time Southgate attempted to utilise the unique skillset possessed by the Liverpool vice-captain and appears to finally be placing some faith in Alexander-Arnold.
