A Loganair flight was forced to divert to Edinburgh Airport following heavy fog conditions on Wednesday night, May 15.

Loganair flight LOG65KL travelling from London was set to land at Dundee airport at 7.07pm but instead touched down at Edinburgh Airport at around 8.40pm, according to Flightradar.

It came after fog engulfed the runway in Dundee leading to the flight being unable to land at the original destination airport.

The airline confirmed to Edinburgh Live that the weather conditions forced the flight to re-route on Wednesday, May 15.

A spokesperson for Loganair said: "Fog was the reason for the diversion".

On Tuesday we reported that an Edinburgh Loganair flight was met with airport fire crews after returning to the capital shortly after take-off.

Flight LM381 left the city for Bergen, Norway, at around 1.33pm on Tuesday afternoon but was forced to divert back to Edinburgh due to a suspected issue with the aircraft.

According to plane tracking app FlightRadar24, the flight did not make it out of Scotland before turning and heading back to the capital but Edinburgh Live understands the flight landed safely without incident.

A spokesperson for Loganair said: “Flight LM381 from Edinburgh to Bergen reported a technical issue shortly after take-off this afternoon and returned to Edinburgh as a precaution.
