True Blood star and Oscar-winning actress Anna Paquin is returning to UK TV for the first time in, well, ages.

(Because no, we're not counting that one-off appearance in Electric Dreams – or that time her boobs appeared on BBC News.)

And now Anna is not alone, as a huge – and impressive – cast has been confirmed for the upcoming new dramedy Flack, which will air on W in the UK.

Joining the six-part series alongside Paquin are the likes of The Slap and Hotel Rwanda's Sophie Okonedo, Requiem and Black Mirror's Lydia Wilson, and Mad Dogs' Marc Warren.

Sophie Okonedo will take on the role of Robyn's boss, the sharp and formidable Caroline, while Lydia Wilson is set to play Robyn's best friend Eve, the "dark heart" of the series.

Marc Warren will be playing Tom, a damaged but charming ex-dancer and fellow NA attendee who just might turn out to be Robyn's love interest.

But that's not all – Alan Davies (Jonathan Creek), Genevieve Angelson (Good Girls Revolt), Rebecca Benson (Game of Thrones, The Crown), Arinzé Kene, Rufus Jones (W1A) and Rebecca Root (The Danish Girl) are also on board.

Phew.

Flack, which will kick off production this week, has been billed as equal parts hilarious and "high-stakes", and will see Anna Paquin lead as Robyn, a "sharp and witty" crisis PR strategist who is an expert at her job – and at sabotaging herself.

Created by Oliver Lansley, Flack will be executive produced by Episodes' Jimmy Mulville, Facejacker's Helen Williams and CASM Films, with The Full Monty's Peter Cattaneo sitting in the director's chair.
