Love Island viewers unimpressed by latest dumping

Love Island spoilers follow.

Love Island viewers were not impressed by the latest dumping, which was decided by the other Islanders.

Tonight's (June 23) episode saw host Maya Jama enter the villa to reveal the results of the public vote. Maya made her presence known as she walked in with her signature strut. "Can you meet me by the firepit, please?" she instructed the anxious Islanders, who gathered to hear their fate.

"I've got some very important news. The public have been voting for their favourite couple. The couples with the fewest votes are at risk of being dumped from the Island today."

As the newest Islanders, bombshells Matilda and Konnor were exempt from the public vote.

Maya announced the couples who were saved by the public, leaving Ronnie and Tiffany, Jess and Omar, Joey and Grace and Uma and Wil vulnerable. The safe Islanders were left to choose which boy and girl to dump.

Ultimately, it was Omar and Tiffany who were dumped from the Island. But fans on Twitter/X weren't impressed with the decision.

"Wrong decision Omar deserved to stay very sly #loveIsland" said one fan. "I was looking forward to seeing Tiffany's journey. I feel like it was cut short #loveIsland" said another.

Elsewhere, fans were frustrated that the voting didn't impact the end result. "Why give the public a vote when it means nothing? #loveisland" one said. "Should just be down to the viewers #loveisland" wrote another.

A third added: "Say it every year but can we please stop giving the public vote back to the islanders @LoveIsland #loveIsland".

After being dumped, Omar reflected on his time with Matilda: "I know I gave it my best shot in terms of trying to get to know her and who knows, if I stayed in the Villa it could have developed further."

Tiffany also explained her decision to call things off with Ronnie: "Ultimately something was missing so I had to be honest with him and be true to myself and my feelings."

Love Island airs on ITV2 and streams on ITVX.
