A biker has been taken to Stoke-on-Trent's main hospital after an M6 crash. An air ambulance landed at the height of the emergency response which closed both carriageways and led to miles of queues.

The collision - involving the motorbike and a van - occurred on the northbound carriageway between junction 14 for Stafford North and junction 15 for Stoke-on-Trent South. It happened on Friday afternoon.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to a road traffic collision involving a motorbike and a van on the M6. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene. The motorcyclist, a man, was treated for serious injuries and taken via land ambulance to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment."

StokeonTrentLive has approached Staffordshire Police for a statement regarding the collision. Any witnesses can call the police on 101.
