An exciting new show will soon be hitting the stage much to the delight of locals.

Every two years Maggie Monk School of Dancing puts on a show at the Elgiva Theatre in Chesham which always proves to be a spectacular occasion with many in attendance.

This year’s show is especially exciting as the esteemed school of dance are celebrating the Dance School’s Ruby Anniversary, meaning that the establishment has been teaching dance for four decades!

To help commemorate the last 40 years of Maggie Monk School of Dancing the school are recreating some iconic numbers from the previous 16 shows that they have performed!

Every student has the opportunity to take part in the show, right from our baby ballet and baby street classes up to our adult classes. Parents are invited to come along to support their budding dancers as they take part in the performance of the year.

All dance and drama classes of all ages will have a routine to perform in from ballet, modern, tap to flamenco! There's something for everyone, no matter what their dancing passion might be.

Show week is the last week of June and there will be five performances in total as follows Friday June 28 (6pm performance) Saturday June 29 (12pm performance) Saturday June 29 (5pm performance) Sunday June 30 (12pm performance) Sunday June 30 (5pm performance).

Tickets are on sale through the Elgiva Theatre and all are welcome!

Maggie Monk founded the dance school in Chesham in 1984 with one class of nine pupils. Since then the school has gone from strength to strength and now operates six days a week with classes in many different disciplines.

Sadly, in 2006 Maggie Monk passed away from Motor Neurone Disease and the school was taken over by her daughter Natilie and head teach Fiona who continued to build on Maggie’s success until 2017 when the legacy was passed to former student Georgie Ketteman.

Georgie Ketteman, the school’s Principal, said “It is an incredible experience for all of our students to be able to perform in a professional theatre to an audience full of their family and friends, and it is always a real highlight of the year.

This year is even more special as we will be celebrating forty years of the dance school too. I’m incredibly proud of everyone and grateful for the dedication of teachers and pupils in putting the show together.”
